Possible Photo Series

With this set of images, I'm looking at creating a flow through the park, as if you are going from the depths of the cemetary that has minimal light and emerging where the light reaches.

Project 1 - S P A C E

Bolton Street Memorial Park

Cemeteries are a place to leave loved ones to be remembered for many generations to come. When I think of a cemetery I think of laid out paths, neat gardens, bright white headstones and flower beds.

But here it seems as if this is a forgotten generation, the paths are overgrown, there are no flowers, even some of the graves are barely recognizable, it has become a popular running route and seems as if they don’t even notice where they are.

This Cemetery was Wellingtons first, established in 1840 along side the settlement of Wellington. When it was first opened it would have had spectacular views over the growing town and looking out to the harbor, now large buildings and houses surround it, it now even has a motorway cutting through the middle.

I’m looking at the idea of forgotten memories that care has turned to neglect and the love that was once evident is now surrounded by darkness and shadows.
